We are sure that people have noticed the ongoing problems in Hong Kong. The current situation is completely unforeseen and fast changing every day. We learned that several universities have banned travel to Hong Kong or given warnings. Meanwhile, we understand that many attendees have booked flights, so we tried our best with alternative plans in the past week. However, we found ourselves constrained by the tight time to work out new logistics plans and leave enough time for attendees to adjust schedules. Thus, the committee of Asian Polmeth 2020 has finally made the sad decision to cancel the conference.
We realize that this decision of cancellation of the conference is not something anyone would want, especially given the dedication of many Asian Polmeth participants and audience. Unfortunately, we believe safety of conference participants is always the priority. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected situation.
Cambridge will be processing refunds and will contact each registrant to confirm their fees have been refunded.
Again, we appreciate your active participation to this conference and understanding of this hard decision. It has been a pleasure reading your proposals. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to host future Asian Polmeth at HKU after things go back to normal in Hong Kong. We wish you success with your research and hope to have your continuous support to Asian Polmeth. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by sending emails to asianpolmeth.2020@gmail.com or any of the local committee members.
